Foxfire is a canvas safari tent at Elk Hollow, set on a big wraparound deck in the trees. It’s built for two couples or a family who want two real bedrooms and two full baths instead of sharing a space. Quiet, private, and surrounded by birdsong, with the odd deer or turkey passing through.
This is glamping, not camping. The walls are canvas, but the comforts aren’t: two spa-style baths, a full kitchen, heat and AC, WiFi, three TVs, and keyless entry. You’ll fall asleep to the forest through screened windows, which is the point.

🚗 GETTING HERE
The access road is steep gravel, so we recommend AWD or 4WD, especially in rain, and arriving before dark on your first trip. From parking, it’s a set of trail-like steps up to the main deck, about 25, with another 5 down to the fire pit. The climb is the trade for how private and tucked-in the tent feels. Five minutes from downtown Bryson City, right by the Deep Creek entrance to the Smokies.
➳ GOOD TO KNOW
It’s a canvas safari tent, so you’ll hear the rain, the birds, and a bit more of the outdoors than a cabin. Two more double-suite tents, Serengeti and Swallowtail, sit within walking distance; book all three for a bigger group, and know that when they’re occupied you’ll hear some of your neighbours, since canvas isn’t soundproof. About 25 steps to the deck. Glamping, with two spa baths, a full kitchen, and heat and AC, not roughing it, but the canvas and the steps are real and worth picturing before you book.
